Case Study: Meeting Tito’s Challenges with Innovation
The Challenge
Tito’s Handmade Vodka required closures that combined durability with the brand’s signature copper finish—a look that defines their premium image. However, the original caps faced durability issues, compromising their performance. When called upon in 2012, Spartek stepped up to develop a specialized coating process that enhanced the caps’ resilience while maintaining their aesthetic appeal.
The success of this solution was met with a new challenge: scaling production to meet Tito’s surging demand. Daily orders soared to 92,000 closures, putting immense pressure on Spartek’s existing production setup, which required over 20 employees across two shifts. A scalable, efficient solution was needed to ensure Tito’s supply chain remained uninterrupted.
The Solution
Spartek made a bold investment in an inline metallizing and coating line, designed and manufactured by its subsidiary, Marca Technologies. This state-of-the-art system dramatically improved efficiency, allowing Spartek to produce over 150,000 closures daily with a reduced workforce.
As Tito’s growth continued, so did the demand for closures. To stay ahead, Spartek installed a second inline metallization machine, doubling daily production capacity to over 300,000 closures while requiring just half the workforce compared to previous methods. These strategic advancements ensured that Spartek could meet Tito’s growing needs with speed, precision, and reliability.
The Results
Today, Spartek operates five inline metallization machines, including those developed by Marca Technologies, achieving a production capacity of over 750,000 closures daily. This unparalleled output allows Spartek to fulfill Tito’s high-volume demands while maintaining the quality and consistency that define their brand.
At the 2022 annual Tito’s vendor gathering, Spartek was recognized for its contributions, receiving both the Top Collaborator Award and the Top Performer Award. Most recently, Spartek was honored with Tito’s Value to Tito’s Award for 2023, celebrating our ability to step up during critical supply chain challenges and consistently deliver exceptional results.
